C1 – Cambridge English – Advanced
If you intend to take the Cambridge English – Advanced exam, this course will prepare you to be able to understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and recognise implicit meaning. By the time of the exam you will have been able to express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. By that time you will also have been using language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Furthermore, you will have been able to produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices. Specifically, you will also be prepared to:
- express yourself fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly.
- have a good command of a broad lexical repertoire allowing gaps to be readily overcome with circumlocutions.
- select a suitable phrase from a fluent repertoire of discourse functions to preface your remarks in order to get the floor, or to gain time and keep it whilst thinking;
- produce clear smoothly flowing, well-structured speech, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
