Independent-Plus (Cambridge English – First)
The course will prepare a senior learner to be able to discuss concrete topics relating to particular interests and special fields of competence.
The course will build on the emerging evidence of ability to support opinions, explain in detail, and hypothesize.
The course will also encourage paraphrasing and circumlocution in order to compensate for an imperfect grasp of some forms or expressions.
As a listener and/or reader s/he will be able to show an emergingawareness of culturally implied meanings beyond the surface meanings of the text.
The course will build on emerging awareness of the aesthetic properties of language and of its literary styles to permit comprehension of a wider variety of texts, including literary.
As a writer s/he will be able to write most social and informal correspondence.
The learner will be able to describe and narrate personal experiences fully but with difficulty when supporting points of view in written discourse. S/he will be able to write about the concrete aspects of topics relating to particular interests and special fields of competence.
The learner will generally be strong in either grammar or vocabulary, but probably not in both.
